Head of Factual

As Head of Factual, Rob is part of the senior strategy team for content development and oversees the production of some of BHP’s top premium shows. He most recently oversaw hit true crime documentaries MISSING: THE LUCIE BLACKMAN CASE (Netflix) and THE RAINCOAT KILLER (Netflix), the award winning science series EVOLVE (Curiosity, Amazon Prime), the exciting new exploration series LIFT THE ICE (Curiosity) and is currently showrunning a slate of exciting new projects for Netflix, Love Nature and Smithsonian. Before he joined BHP, Rob was a BAFTA-winning showrunner known for working with international adventurers and explorers such as Bear Grylls and Levison Wood in some of the world’s most hostile environments. His first collaboration with BHP was the revolutionary adventure format ED STAFFORD: FIRST MAN OUT – the world’s first True 4K survival show – a global event across Discovery. As one of the first Series Producers on the American factual phenomenon GOLD RUSH for Discovery, he went on to develop and run multiple US-facing shows for British independent production company Raw TV. Rob has helmed award-winning shows for channels as diverse as the BBC, Discovery, Nat Geo, History, Channel 4, ITV, MTV as well as a host of online platforms and was one of the UK’s first producers to secure both scripted and unscripted commissions on nascent portals such as Facebook. Alongside production, Rob has been responsible for taking shows from idea through to delivery for UK companies such as IWC Media and RDF Media as Development Executive, Development Producer and Digital Producer. Outside of TV, Rob has been a frontline journalist for British broadsheet newspapers, a writer at MTV and has worked for the United Nations in the Middle East, particularly Syria. His fiction writing has been represented by Universal Agents. He has won awards in factual, adventure, children’s TV and comedy.
