ED STAFFORD: FIRST MAN OUT is a genre-defining survival series that pits the world’s best adventurers, survivalists and bush craft experts against infamous explorer Ed Stafford, the first man to walk the length of the Amazon River.  Every episode sees Ed Stafford go head-to-head with the best in the survival game in a race across the most stunning but punishing environments Asia has to offer in a bid to be First Man Out.

Ed Stafford has already hosted many successful Discovery shows that have seen him ‘Marooned’ on a desert island for sixty days and ‘Left For Dead’ in hostile locations around the world.  This time, survival is only half the battle as Ed risks life, limb and reputation to prove he’s the best survivalist in the world.

Beach House Pictures was honoured to be chosen by Discovery to take on the challenge of shooting their first survival show in True 4k across six locations including Thailand, Palau, Borneo, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and India.

The shoot took a team of 25 – 30 crew members 75 days to complete, requiring 22 cameras shooting at 50fps, which generated 8 x more data than a standard HD production.  The total shoot clocked in 65Tb of raw data.

ED STAFFORD: FIRST MAN OUT is a Discovery production in association with the Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). Donovan Chan is the Executive Producer and Rob Sixsmith is the Series Producer for Beach House Pictures. Victoria Noble is the Executive Producer for Discovery.
